Family Caregiver Support
Caregiver Respite through the Family Caregiver Support Program
Family caregivers who provide care and support for their older adult loved one may qualify for a reimbursement voucher to pay for someone to "give them a break" from caregiving duties. The program allows the caregiver to hire their own chosen help, and reimburses the caregiver for their helper's hours of service. The vouchers are limited to $500 each and are designed to give the caregiver a break.
In addition to the Voucher Program, LCCOA co-sponsors a Caregiver Support Group meeting with White and Allen, Attorneys at Law. This group meets on the 3rd Thursdayof each month at 4:00 p.m. at LCCOA's senior center and gives participants the opportunity to receive education and training, and be with others who may be experiencing the same challenges. Participants can share their experiences and gain insight and support from each other.
